Since its creation in 2001, BM&A has launched promotional CDs that compile what’s new in independent music production in Brazil.
But more than a physical CD, a compilation entitled “The New Brazilian Music” is a gateway to brazilian music in the international market. Through the presence of BM&A and its collaborators in major trade fairs and conventions of music as the Womex (Denmark), South by Southwest (USA), APAP (USA), Liverpool Sound City (England), Baffin (Argentina), MIDEM (France ), the compilation moves through the hands of major labels, producers and contractors abroad to generate great business opportunities.
With partnering with companies of culture and music, the CD was chartered in London Music Week magazine in its issue that brought the release of 7,000 units (and a digital version to 17,000 subscribers) taking 18 names in the new Brazilian music to England in the month of January. That same month, the material circulated by the MIDEM 2011 held annually in Cannes, France.
Of the artists who participated on the CD, Thiago Phetit went to Argentina and the U.S. in March. Luísa Maita and Guizado are already mobilizing to concerts abroad this year. She will pass through France and Portugal in July, after a year of negotiation with agents in USA and Europe, and the international release of the Lero-Lero album through Cumbancha/Putumayo label. The trumpeter Guizado received an invitation to a jazz festival in Turkey.
That same month, “The New Brazilian Music” CDs also circulated by the fair MIDEM 2011, held annually in Cannes, France.
