For years working with music, the BM&A, responsible for Brazil Music Exchange, also has projects and important publications aboutthe scene. See some of our actions and works.

Actions Focus:

1.            Expand operations of the project by encouraging

musical production  participation of states outside the Rio-Sao Paulo.

2.            inform the national production on the new media

(internet, mobile, movies, TV, games and advertising) in the music industry,

encouraging and guiding their adaptation to this reality.

3.            Promote the image of Brazilian music, trying to make it

an internationally recognized by commercial category.

4.            Promote synergistic actions between the various links in the

production chain of the music in search results shared.

5.            Search synergistic points between the music industry and other

export projects, enabling partnerships and joint actions.

6.            Seek partnerships with foreign institutions,

promoting Brazilian music through their channels.

7.            Fairs

Fairs:

BAFIM

The BAFIM, that takes place since 2006, has established itself as the leading trade music in Latin America, with over 100 000 visitors(it is open to the general public), and entrepreneurs from 15 countries (2008 data). Since 2008, BAFIM is part of a partnership betweenBM&A and the Government of Buenos Aires, which ensures a privileged space for booth and the guarantee of at least three Brazilian bands selected for shows, as occurred in 2008. Furthermore, brazilian entrepreneurs have great benefit to acquire their credentials. In2008 there were 30 entrepreneurs who participated in this show at Booth BM&A / APEX-Brazil, tripling the Brazilian participation inreference to 2007.

Womex

Womex is the principal fair dedicated to artists and entrepreneurs of artists , especially linked to the branch of World Music. In 2007 there were 2,800 delegates from 90 countries and 350 journalists. Furthermore, presented at Womex 350 artists from 42 countries. Since 2004, every year, the BM&A organizes the Brazilian stand. In 2007 collaborated with the departure of two Brazilian artists for the festival – Yamandu Costa e Siba e a Fuloresta – and made the conference about their activities.

SXSW - South by Southwest

The U.S. market has always been a challenge for Brazil and South by Southwest Fair is the biggest  in this market for the music industry. Furthermore, this fair is not just about music but also TV and interactive arts. The highlight of the fair is the festival, which gathers more than 1,500 bands from all over the world. In 2008 there were eight Brazilian bands that performed. In 2009, due to thepromotional activity of Bm&A (which brought to Brazil, within the project buyer, the director of this festival) 22 bands were selected.

MIDEM

Midem is the biggest music fair of the world , with 10,000 professionals from over 90 countries and 350 journalists. Technology companies like Microsoft, Apple, stances. phones, etc., have a significance presence. BM&A since 2002, organizes every year the Brazilian participation including booth, lectures and concerts. Organized in 2003 and 2005, respectively, “Brazil country-theme” of Midem and the launch of the year of Brazil in France. In these two deals, were 11 Brazilian artists that performed as Seu Jorge, Cordel do Fogo Encantado, Tom Zé and Barbatuques. In 2007 were generated between expectations and business signed during the fair more than $ 2 million.

APAP

Regarded as the principal forum in the world related to the arts and entertainment industry, the event attracts about 4,000 participants - professionals and artists from over 49 states in North America and 30 countries. The forum of APAP is the place to stay connected, find solutions and build your business. It’s five days of trade and exchange knowledge and experiences with artists, producers,managers, agents and supporters of the industry in general. BM&A will be present at this event, publicizing and promoting meetings topromote the arts and artists in Brazil. Officially based in Washington, APAP is an entity dedicated to developing and supporting thearts and professionals. These about 2000 members spread all over the world representing the most varied aspects of the art market in the United States. Leading discussions on the area, APAP works for the change of the scene through professional development,resource sharing and civic engagement.

Projects

Buyer-Image

It is the coming of media professionals and international buyers to Brazil to meet Brazilian producers of music and artists, with the objective of promoting and generating business.

Promotional CDs

Annually, the BM&A is responsible for the trusteeship and production of a brazilian music collection in CD form containing tracks from local artists on the rise and informative booklet containing details about the trajectory of each artist on the disc and their contact information. This promotional CD is distributed during fairs and events and when necessary, to international professionals.
