News and features

For the next year, there are many news and features. To adapt to the natural evolution of the market, in 2012 the event will have technology companies and advertising agencies around traditional artists and music industry entrepreneurs.

From now on, the midemNet will happen simultaneously and will be distributed throughout the four-day event. There will be a special day, a Monday, which will be dedicated to “key lectures”, titled “Visionary Monday”.

At midem 2012, “Innovation Factory” will be launched. It’s a meeting and discovery space where the start-ups, the main actors in technology, the artists and recording companies can share their needs, projects and experiences in the music. The midemLab, an international contest open to innovative start-ups and application developers , will take place within the Innovation Factory, as occurred in 2011.

The change for the next year aims to expand the scope, to enable the participation of companies from all sectors. Regarding marketing, brands will have an even more sophisticated program in terms of content, with conferences and workshops, and interaction between artists, publishers and recording companies. The SyncDay, an exclusive day for synchronization, in 2012 will have a competition that will award the best
use of music in a marketing campaign.

The midemFestival is now open, not only to the music industry executives, but also to the public. Three-night lineup will be divided between international artists. The Fringe stage, launched at the latest fair’s edition, in 2012 has been renamed to midemOff and corresponds to a musical program live in the bars of Cannes.

Another important change is the place where the companies will be. At midem 2012, there are three areas exclusively for business making: Riviera, Lerins (booth, bar) and Level1 (conferences). The BM&A’s booth will be now at Lerins, on the 3rd floor of the pavilion.
