Maria Beraldo12h30 pm - 1h pm
CAVALA arrives at full gallop: Maria Beraldo’s first solo album reveals the cry of freedom of a lesbian woman and the artistic step of a clarinetist who has become a composer. In spite of her 30s, Maria makes part of the Brazilian experimental music scene as clarinetist and singer of Arrigo Barnabé’s band but also as member of the ensembles Quartabê and Bolerinho. Immersed in the musical universe of São Paulo City that is much influenced by the oddities of the metropolis, Maria Beraldo takes the stage alone to present her sorrows and delights. Luedji Luna7h20 pm - 7h50 pm
The show is a proposal to think about identity, it is the singer’s look on herself, from the contact, even if dispersed, with the African immigrants in São Paulo. The project is based on the idea of non-belonging, the body that occupies space, but does not identify with it, and the need to connect with ancestry. The show refers to the crossing, the displacement, it is from this notion that the arrangements were thought out. Um Corpo no Mundo (A Body in the World is) a fluid show, with songs that transit, with references that transit, where nothing is absolutely sealed. What is really meant is to lead to a sensation: the non-place!Brasil Music Summit
Um Corpo no Mundo (A Body in the World) is a dissolution of several sounds, it is an album that brings an extended and re-signified Africa, and the audience will be able to see the result of this work live!
Teto Preto8h pm - 8h30 pm
From the old warehouses and abandoned factories, contaminated by MAMBA NEGRA, arises the electro-organic band Teto Preto.Brasil Music Summit
Teto Preto is a product of the encounter between the Brazilian music’s culture and the electronic scene that occupies the streets, clubs and festivals in São Paulo. The result is a complex and explosive sound that contemplates a wide range of styles and music practices. Through a repertoire of original compositions, collages and improvisations, the band explores themes like the female body, politics and oppression, approaching them with a vertiginous gaze.
The vocal alternates between the ethereal and percussive, stabbing and caressing the audience with sharp words, while the drum machines and synthesizers estabilish a solid and infectious pulse. With the percussion, comes the syncopated feel of the brazillian culture. This wild mixture generates a rampageous yet seductive sound, drawing from influences as diverse as industrial music, no wave, krautrock, jazz and popular brazillian music.
8h40 pm - 9h10 pm
With strong lyrics and heavy beats, Tássia Reis brings voice to matters, constantly, silenced. This is evident in the tracks “Ouça-Me” (Hear Me), “Afrontamento” (Confrontation), and “Da Lama” (Of the Mud) with the participation of MC Stefanie Roberta. There is also room for heart matters, within the poetic narrative, with the sensual “Perigo” (Danger), the relaxant and cozy “Se Avexe No” (Don’t Worry), and the libertarian “Semana Vem” (Week Come), which talks about abusive relationships and the encounter of self-love. Throughout the entire CD, and especially in “Desapegada” (Detached), it is possible to notice a mature, safe and free artist who is focused on spreading her art wherever she goes.Brasil Music Summit
On the road with #OutraEsferaTour since then, Tássia is accompanied by 3D DJ, Lívia Mafrika (vocal support), Jhow Produz (drums), Weslei Rodrigo (bass), and Sintia Piccin (sax and flute). She has already played on important stages in Brazil, such as Centro Cultural Rio Verde, Ibirapuera Auditorium, Circo Voador, Itaú Cultural, Cine Joia, CCBB, and main units of the Sesc network, always joining the public of rap parties to jazz festivals. Besides her solo career, Tássia is also a member of the female group “Rimas & Melodias”, formed by seven hip hop women. Together, they gave life to the homonymous album with the performance of Red Bull Station in September 2017. In early November, the clip of “Elza” – a tribute to the singer Elza Soares – was released on the KondZilla channel, which already has more of 1 million views.
